HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – Victory, the Huntington Beach surfwear brand who revolutionized wetsuits with the first blind-stitched performance wetsuit, announces a new line of performance Surf and SUP wear specifically created for Hawai’ian watermen, surfers and SUP addicts. The line was created by a team of designers, artists and Victory President, Marc Spitaleri, and centers around the ancient Hawai’ian texts and legends of demi god Māui.
“We brought together former Disney Brand Director, Joe Burke and ex-pro surfer Johnny Monson to tell these legendary stories, we wanted Hawai’ian and Polynesian mythology woven into the fabric, function and artwork of every garment.”
Performance wear innovation is nothing new for Victory, the company helped design and create the first modern triathlon wetsuit and the first women’s neoprene bathing suits. The body construction, stitch, design and Victory’s proprietary KoreDry™ encapsulated fabric technology create a UV protected “second skin” that breathes, captures warmth and dries super quick.
Victory is launching their new mantra and campaign “Catch the Sun”, which tells the legend of Māui and the demi god’s journey to the top of Mount Haleakala to lasso the sun; making the days longer in summer and shorter in winter. Victory got together with photographer Erik Aeder to film and photograph their adventure on Maui in June of 2016 and featured their signed Victory athlete Kawika Kinimaka, (U18 Ole Longboard Classic Champion, Battle of the Paddle Champion); and Pro surfer Alicia Yamada; both residents of Maui.
“When we researched the roots of Hawai’ian culture, we learned more about Māui, the ‘Hercules of Polynesia’. The legends are based on ancient texts and the Queen Lili’uokalani’s family chant…these are powerful stories shared from every geography of the Pacific; the Hawai’ian Islands, New Zealand, Tahitian Islands, Tonga, Fiji, Samoa and as far as Peru”, says Spitaleri, “we are following the legends to ‘catch the sun’, ‘lift the sky’ and ‘find fire’”.
Victory will debut the campaign and line at Surf Expo in Orlando on September 8, 2016. They are showing at booth 1606 and booking appointments at - https://victorykoredry.youcanbook.me
